Get started
Tata Power engagement

Tata Power nominated leaders across functions to complete leadership programs at top universities. The risk was familiar: classroom insight fades fast under operational pressure. With Invincible YOU, Tata Power launched CoachON, a twelve-month journey on the Invincible YOU App that turns that learning into practice through competencies and micro-experiments.

Designing for Memory

The Invincible YOU app is built on Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve. Each competency returns at spaced intervals, just as recall would start to slip. Leaders meet the same idea several times, each time in real work, until it becomes a reflex.

Choice-Based Competencies

Each quarter, leaders choose three of ten competencies, for example:

  • Strategic stakeholder influence
  • Systems-level decision-making
  • Cross-functional orchestration
  • Team clarity and execution discipline
  • Building psychological safety and accountability in teams
  • Leading through paradox and change
  • Coaching and development of others
  • Inclusive, multi-generational leadership
  • Ethical and responsible use of technology in teams
  • Data-informed team management

Choosing what their work demands means leaders practice with real stakes, and own the journey.

The Journey

  1. Kickoff (week 1) — Orientation, university anchors and Essentype insights; leaders choose three competencies.
  2. Quarters 1–4 (months 1–10) — Leaders practice, review and choose new competencies each quarter; from Quarter 3, they apply learning in team contexts.
  3. Integration (months 11–12) — Leaders reflect on behavioral shifts and leadership identity.

Action Sparks

Small experiments run in the flow of work, such as inviting a dissenting view in a review or delegating an outcome rather than a task. Leaders try, observe and reflect in the app. Across quarters, these small moves compound.

The Dashboard

Tata Power's L&D and leadership teams track engagement and impact across all 87 leaders, including which competencies are chosen and how practice is building.

Impact: Integrated Learning

Themes that emerged from the reflections and action sparks:

  • Enterprise view — Decisions framed around system-wide consequences.
  • Influence across boundaries — Stronger stakeholder engagement and cross-functional orchestration.
  • Clarity and safety in teams — Clear ownership and steady execution, with people who speak up.
  • Steadiness through change — Composure through paradox and the energy transition.
  • Leaders who grow leaders — From solving problems to coaching others to solve them.
  • Future-ready teams — Inclusive across generations; data-informed and responsible with technology.

Looking Ahead

University programs gave leaders new ideas; CoachON makes them their own. For Tata Power, the result is a growing bench of system-level leaders across the business, ready for the future it is building.
